Jesus Lovin Mom Boss Time Management Tips

Jesus Lovin Mom Boss Time Management Tips

I’ve completely figured out how to manage my time as a work from home momma.

Are you laughing? Yeah, me too.

Time is a weird thing. It goes by slowly when you don’t want it to, and sneaks away when you want it to linger. Time is the most common thing mommas tell me they need help with. We have so much on our plates, that oftentimes the things we want to do and focus on get shoved to the back burner. Or, if we’re being honest, shoved completely off the stove, accidentally kicked under the oven, and then left for the ants to come and pick apart and take back to their nest.

While I definitely have not mastered the changing time demands that growing kiddos put on a working momma, there are two things that I learned make or break successful time management for moms.

The Two Most Important Time Management tips For Moms

1. Always start the day with the Bible and prayer. The first of the Jesus lovin mom boss time management tips is to spend time with God.

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Psalm 90:14

But let me be the first to admit that this does not always happen. Sometimes I sleep in. Sometimes I jump right into work. Sometimes I decide to snuggle with my husband for an extra 15 minutes instead. It’s OK. But what I will say is this: when I make it a priority to get Bible reading and prayer first thing in the morning, I actually do it. And it transforms my day. My attitude with my kids is more patient. My stress level with work stuff is less. And it’s all because I had a reminder first thing in the morning that my identity is found in Jesus Christ. Everything else comes second.

2. Plan. Plan. Plan. The days when I don’t have a plan are the days when I don’t get as much done. And sometimes those days are preferred, and needed. Most days, I have my day planned down to 15 minute intervals. The second of the Jesus lovin mom boss time management tips is to schedule everything.

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
    no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Proverbs 6:6-8

Here is what my schedule looks like on a normal school day.

Time Management Schedule Example

Now, this doesn’t mean that you have to be the crazy mom who loses it when things don’t go as planned. Be flexible and understanding when all-the-things hit the fan (they literally and figuratively will…because you are a mom). But, having a plan in your head to help prioritize what needs done when will help you more days than not.

Take some time to brainstorm your day-to-day schedule. Jot it down in a notebook or download your very own daily schedule worksheet here. Print it out once to brainstorm a few ideas and then give it a trial run!

I personally use the passion planner as my daily planner for jotting down the big stuff.

My passion planner for the big stuff, complete with messy desk.

I love it because it has monthly calendars, with the weekly calendars in between, which is broken down into 30 minute segments. There are prompts to help you set goals and work towards meeting those goals every day.

For the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing 60 second time management tips. Be sure to check back for more practical tips you can use in your daily routine.
